Japan prepares for the 26th Annual Quran Competition

The Japan Islamic Trust has announced the registration details, as well as the dates for both the preliminary and final stages of the 26th All Japan Annual Quran Recitation and Memorization Competition.

Hawzah News Agency- Organized as part of the Trust’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Muslims’ connection with the Holy Quran and to promote its memorization and recitation across Japan, the 26th edition will bring together participants from diverse communities throughout the country, according to Muslims Around the World.

The preliminary round will be held online via Zoom on December 14, while the final stage will take place in person at Tokyo Camii Mosque and the Diyanet Turkish Culture Center in Shibuya on December 30 and 31, 2025.

Registration for the competition is open electronically until December 7, with participation available to all Muslims residing in Japan—regardless of nationality—at no cost.

The contest offers multiple categories for children up to age 15, ranging from a non-competitive recitation level for those who have memorized at least one Surah to the category for full Quran memorization.

For participants aged 16 and above, the competition includes a level dedicated to complete memorization of the Quran.

According to the organizers, the competition aims to deepen participants’ love for the Quran and encourage them to refine their recitation while strengthening their memorization of the Divine Revelation.
